Serves two purposes. Money goes back in to the local economy, and it reuses products that have a long life in them.

There are options, you just refuse to look around and find them, while you turn your nose up at "latte drinkers". This latte drinker shops resale, ebay (well, I'm boycotting them right now), craigslist, and shops with better reputations than Wal-Mart.

But hey, if you support their chinese slave labor practices and deplorable treatment of their US employees, then go right ahead. But it appears to me you're part of the problem.
