That's why it's important to look at each candidate's record, their relative ease in discussing our issues, the role they've played in our visibility, etc.

THAT'S why it's important that Clinton has appeared in our parades, that she hasn't shied away from vocal advocates for our rights (like Gavin Newsom), that she can talk about the adversity and violence faced by GLBTs and especially GLBT youth in a way that evinces some real knowledge and understanding of the subject.

That's what was so infuriating about Obama's response to McClurkin. It wasn't just that he was basically saying, F you, he's going on anyway--it was that he was completely insensitive to (or unaware of) the damage people like McClurkin do to our community. This is not someone with a viewpoint to be "strongly disagreed" with--this is someone who spreads hate and hurts people. A lot of them.
