Advocacy and criticism are the LIFEBLOOD of any REAL democracy. People who want to avoid these necessary struggles really want to avoid the reality of democracy.

As for MoveOn, the PhD probably means to say "I am tired of MoveOn filling my email box with spam". But that doesn't have quite the same cachet.

(I gather it wouldn't really matter so much what the content of the spam was, only that PhD isn't interested in it).
