she will have relented in favor of the private insurers, putting a cap on the insured's income eligibility - make more than X per head per household and they MUST buy private insurance. That's the ONLY reason to leave the private insurers in the process. And leaving private insurers in is a guarantee that they will undermine the government plan. Look at the HMOs today that REFUSE MEDICARE.
And, as I pointed out before, it is private insurance that sets the standards, the reimbursable rates, etc., which means there will be no more control of costs than there was on the medicare prescription bill.
You can't do this with half-measures. You can't start with a compromise. Just take a deep breath and take the fucking plunge - government funded single-payer universal healthcare. It's the only way.
Anything less will be a miserable failure.
