| the problem with Mary Landrieu as VP |
|
it's not neccesarily her voting record, which I'll ignore for now. Despite some votes we'd disagree with she's for the most part a loyal Democrat.
The problem is she wouldn't help us much. She's no Breaux. She won by only a couple thousand votes in 1996, and by a narrow 52-48 one against a real extremist last time.
Breaux is really the only one who could help shore up Louisiana, and no I'm definately not suggesting him, while he is also a loyal Democrat he still fails many litmus tests, and I doubt he'd be retiring if he had any interest in staying in politics at all. It's actually quite a shame he isn't running for reelection, since not only would it make his seat safe rather than having to fight for it, but his coattails would massively help us out, especially if him and Kerry campaigned together. We should be able to hold the seat but it'll be a battle, and not much coattails.
