It typically gets slow for me around December anyway, so I always prepare for that. And I was shooting four months straight leading up to three weeks ago, so I managed to save a bit.

As I mentioned, it's the entry level folks I really feel bad for. Graduate college, move out to LA over the summer to chase the dream, get a job as a PA somewhere, and bang, the industry shuts down. A lot of them are either borrowing from parents, or moving back home.
