him on his inexcusable support for the so-called "Patriot" Act.

I didn't hear from him for several months. I had almost forgotten about the letter when I got a reply from him, addressing what I had said, point by point.

While I still think his vote on the "Patriot" Act was a big mistake (and I believe he does too now), I have a great deal of respect for him.

He very well may still answer your email. In any event, I wouldn't be so quick to write him off.
