There is quite a substantial gulf between "perfect" and "lacking basic knowledge about other countries."

I'm honestly pretty perplexed that so many DUers are so willing to give Obama a pass or claim this is petty when DUers ripped into Bush for calling Spain's PM a "president." Spain's PM's official title is "legislative president" so Bush was almost correct with his gaffe.

Additionally, I'm not sure that this was a slip. Generally when people make slips of this silliness, they immediately correct themselves. Since neither you nor I nor any other DUer can read Obama's mind (despite the fact that many of them would like to pretend they can), I'll have to assume that he acts and speaks like most people and that when he said "President of Canada" and didn't correct himself he really thought that Canada had a president.
