17. Yes, we definitely need a POPULIST PROGRESSIVE AGENDA!
But we won't win if we don't bring what I called "middle of the road" Americans along with us. There's a lot of fear in this country and, right issues or not, those in the middle won't vote for polarizing candidates. We need the progressive agenda served up by a candidate who can win ~ that's reality, something we Dems aren't always so good at. Idealism is great. Progressive ideas are great. But if we can't get elected, we're still screwed.

Personally, I'd like to see a new party ~ a grassroots party with a platform that's progressive across the board ~ but even then it would have to be presented by the right candidate. Short of that, Richardson is putting forth what looks to be a populist progressive agenda (at least so far), and he may be nonthreatening enough to those in the middle to get their votes too ~ and WIN!
