I was rooting for Kerry back when he was running, and I used to get angry when Repubs pointed out that he voted for the war -- on his behalf, I made the distinction Hillary and others cling to now, that they voted only to give the Prez authority to go to war, not realizing that the Prez was misrepresenting the grounds for their vote.

But at some point it dawned on me, how could Kerry, who everyone says is so smart, have been so stupid that he would entrust so much power to the Prez, when even I at my great distance could see that the Prez never had anything approaching evidence of any imminent threat?

It just did not make sense. To my own regret, I had to conclude that everyone who voted for that resolution knew full well how it would be used.

At least for now, I cannot support anyone who voted yes on that resolution. Anyone who did was either complicit or incompetent.
