87. Howard Dean represents the best of American political talent with a heart.
I was an early Deaniac in Jan 03. Just happened to catch him giving a speech to the National Press Club on CSPAN and I could hardly believe my ears! He was passionate, informed, and unafraid of telling the truth.
What a breath of fresh air.

I went to Meet-ups. I hosted one of the first house parties. I stood
outside our local library gathering signatures to get him on the NC primary ballot. I donated money. I blogged. I wrote letters to the editor and letters to Iowa and New Hampshire voters. I LOVED this man and wanted him to win the primary so badly.

I was furious with Pelosi, Gephardt, Kerry, Edwards, and Kucinich
for swiping at him at every opportunity. I cheered when Gore
endorsed him and cried when he lost the caucus in Iowa and was humiliated by 900 repetitions of an artifact from a microphone being replayed constantly on every TV channel.

And what did he go on to do? Work for the Democratic Party, the people, and even the Dem leadership that were so envious of his popularity they had to collude with the media to get rid of him. Howard Dean is a class act. What a man.
