They know they're safe and protected from any form of violent death. No bombers will attack them, no snipers will fire at them and not even critics will be allowed 10 seconds in their presence without being dragged away and beaten.

In fact, they haven't even completely reconciled with themselves that people are actually dying.

It's a number, a statistic, a meaningless numeral on a piece of paper.

Thousands of Americans, domestically and abroad, hundreds of thousands of foreigners.

Another scheduled meeting arranged with another relative of a dead soldier, AFTER they've determined that the parent won't cause any "trouble".

Bombs, missile attacks, torture, executions, rape, destruction of whole cities..... meaningless.

They're not human beings anymore.
