Al Gore should call for Rumsfeld's dismissal

I know Al's trying to stay "above politics" while getting his message on the climate crisis out, but nothing can better illustrate the practical consequences of our fossil fuel addiction than our current involvement in the Middle East.

Every American know in his and her bones that the only reason we're over there is because of OIL.

Climate change threatens life in the decades to come. Our thirst for oil is threatening our national security right now.

Al Gore should speak out and advise the new Democratic majority Congress that takes power next January to block all defense appropriation bills until the president accepts Rumsfeld's resignation. His voice is needed more than ever right now. He is the only one that can concentrate the nation's attention on this ongoing fiasco and lead a drive for change.

Support for Rumsfeld is now indefensible given everything we now know. Rumsfeld's incompetence is costing our nation billions of dollars that are needed to help prepare the United States to face the energy and climate challenges of the 21st century. He must step down now along with the generals who are taking us further and further away from any hope of security.
