27. Nobody really liked Nixon, either, but they voted for
him anyway. But Kennedy was known for a sense of humor, as I recall. And Reagan (ugh). And Clinton had that genial quality people respond to. Maybe that's it . . . Americans like a President who seems confident; at ease in his own skin. A sense of humor is one way of showing that.

Personally, I'd take "wooden" and "robotic" any day over "the smirk" and "narcissistic" but I'm glad to see Gore letting more warmth shine through.

And I agree completely. ANYBODY we nominate is going to be turned into a cartoon and dragged into the mud by the other party. And it's time we fight fire with fire.
