6. Truth in Advertising: About "FAIR"
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 07:56 AM by mcscajun
(Emphasis mine)

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is an immigration reduction organization in the United States, founded in 1979 by John Tanton.

FAIR promotes policies to improve border security and stop illegal immigration, and to reduce legal immigration into the United States to around 300,000 people a year. FAIR's policy studies emphasize the environmental, economic, and social consequences of mass immigration.

FAIR's policy rhetoric and analysis have often been characterized as anti-immigrant, inflammatory, and partisan. For example, an article in the June 2004 issue of its monthly publication, Immigration Report, is titled "Democrats offer 'No Illegal Immigrant Left Behind' Act." In the article, FAIR writes that the number of people who would receive amnesty under the proposed bill, called the SOLVE Act, would "likely run into the tens of millions," adding that "untold millions" would be able to procure fraudulent documents which would result in an "incalculable" number of family members entering the United States legally.

Tanton himself, though usually identified as a conservationist, counts Wayne Lutton, a man who has shown little discomfort in the company of outright racists, as collaborator and employee.

Moreover, Tanton was forced out of the leadership of U.S. English because of a paper he wrote for a private study group involved with the campaign for an English-only law in Arizona. In that paper, he employs explicity racist references when he writes, "Will the present majority peaceably hand over its political power to a group that is simply more fertile? As Whites see their power and control over their lives declining, will they simply go quietly into the night? Or will there be an explosion? ... Perhaps this is the first instance in which those with their pants up are going to get caught by those with their pants down?"

FAIR and the Pioneer Fund

FAIR has received significant financial support from white supremecist sources. Since its founding, FAIR has received more than $1 million from the notorious racist foundation, the Pioneer Fund.

Founding in 1937 to further the cause of purifying the American gene pool by encouraging the descendants of white colonists to procreate, the Pioneer Fund has become a centerpiece in keeping scientific racism alive through allocating grants for pseudo-academic studies. The Pioneer Fund is infamous not only for its funding of classic racist eugenics research in the pre-World War II era, but also for continued financial support for racial segregation and racist science.

So why exactly did you bring this "FAIR" drivel here to DU?
