6. They talk about family values like Bush talks about...
"Compassionate conservatism". It's a nice buzz-phrase designed to give people who don't like to pay attention warm fuzzy feelings. But when it comes down to it, their "family values" amount to little more than a whole lot of talk. Maybe I was brought up funny, but I thought acceptance and love were central to "family values". I always thought that from those two things, everything else would follow. But apparently, if I have a gay son I should disown him. If my daughter wants an abortion, I should bring her to church. Etc. Etc. Etc.

It's the same thing as "culture of life". It's beyond me how a party that respects and wants to cultivate a "culture of life" would, by a vast majority, support the use of the death penalty, engage in certainly questionably supported wars that result in 30,000 - 100,000 civilian deaths and 2,000+ deaths of American soldiers, support repressive regimes (i.e. Saudi Arabia), and keep funneling money away from the poorest of our population to serve the interests of the upper-income tax brackets.
