They KNOW what they are doing is damaging the country.
They probably initially ran for office to serve the country.
They KNOW that what they are doing is simply about self-preservation (eg not letting the GOP run folks in primaries, and about the ability to fund raise), at the expense of the country.
Somewhere inside they have to rectify the noble part - who wanted to serve - with the f*ck the country side - as long as I got mine...
