The Southern Baptists, Pentecostals, conservative Lutherans and most of the conservative protestant evangelical Christian movement teach their members that Mormonism is a strange cult. They are told some really outrageous lies in the name of learning about other religions and "warning" people about Mormons. The popular anti-Mormon hate literature used by these churches to "educate" their members is only one slight step up from KKK brochures.

I have a very hard time believing that movement would support any Mormon in the GOP Presidential primary. Many of them don't even consider Mormons to be Christians. That's one reason Orrin Hatch had a very hard time running for President in 2000. When he spoke to the Christian coalition he had to make some comments about his faith in Jesus to convince them he was a real Christian.
