you stated: "Further, it wasn't a power struggle that the insiders had the wherewithall to fight or CAN fight going forward: they were up against THE PEOPLE, remember? A majority of "the 447" plus all that grassroots support lobbying them."

well, it certainly doesn't sound like there will be much fight over policy ... at least not from Dean himself ...

In the latest example of his (i.e. Reid's) muscle flexing, incoming Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean agreed during a meeting Wednesday with Reid to cede full control of the party's policies and agenda to congressional Democrats and to provide financial and message support to Reid's efforts, Senate Democratic aides said.

the only thing i disagree with in your post is your observation that: "you make it sound like it's a one-way street -- that only Dean has to work on this."

that is not at all what i intended to say nor is it what i believe ... what i do think is that many Dean supporters i've spoken to, and argued with, believe that Dean has "taken over the Party" and will dictate terms to Congressional Democrats ... I do NOT believe Dean has any intent of doing this and I have great confidence in his ability and desire to build unity ... finally, i couldn't agree more that ALL Democrats should value a unified Party and do what they can to help achieve it ... this does NOT mean anyone should "sell out" and compromise their values ... it means that we need to have a fair process where ALL Democrats have a real voice and a real opportunity to participate ... I have faith that Dean will do all he can to bring that process to fruition ... that's why I supported him for Chair ...
