This kinda strikes me as a Lounge thread, but since I posted the original report here, and since so many of you offered such kind words, and since it feels like maybe people need to talk about something besides lost elections, blown recounts, electronic voting and the death of the Democratic Party, well, I thought I'd post here.

First things first: The damage. I have a huge scratch that covers most of my left cheek, a couple of long cuts above the scratch, two deeper scratches on my neck below the jawline, and my shoulder looks like a tequila sunrise. None of my teeth are loose, but the hinge area of my jaw really hurts.

I tried to eat something this afternoon, and the pain went from Defcon 4 to Defcon 1 when I tried to chew. I took this as a sign that I needed to get some x-rays. Went down to the hospital a few blocks from my place, got the x-rays, got poked and prodded, and the diagnoses is nothing is broken. I was kinda bummed; if my jaw was in fact broken, it would be the 20th time I've broken a bone in my life. Nice round number, and chicks dig scars. ;)

The docs gave me a prescription for super-mega-juggo ibupropein, and another perscription for Percocet. I took some a little while ago, and the pain has retreated dramatically. I might try to eat again in a little bit.

So, in response to everyone's incredibly kind words, I am fine. My mother, Raven, has oft commented on the thickness of my skull. Now, we have empirical proof of the allegation. I have the rock used to attack me - further examination revealed it to be a chunk of sidewalk curb stone a foot long and six inches wide, maybe 20 pounds in weight - sitting on my desk. Later, I an going to inscribe it in indelible marker:

'There Are Worse Things Than Losing Elections'

My attacker gave me that wee bit of perspective. Had his aim been better, I would quite literally be dead, or at least badly damaged. I got lucky, and I plan to use that luck to as good a purpose as I can.

My purpose: Before he is finished in his term, I will make sure George W. Bush is revealed as the scumbag ignorant bloodthirsty fool he is. I will see his name echo down the corridors of history as the exemplar as all that is wicked and foul and foolish in American government. I will see to it that his name becomes a warning, an omen, and a reminder.

Anyone who wishes to join me in this is welcome...and don't worry, you don't have to get clobbered with a chunk of sidewalk to become a member of this club.

Thanks again for your kind words and concerns.

Now let's go get those Bush bastards.
