101. WTC 5: Credit Suisse First Boston

A lot of companies in WTC1, WTC2 and WTC7 have been described. Time for a "forgotten" building WTC5. It is a pretty complex building, because it is a lot more than just 9 floors and I haven't seen a description of it yet, so this the first attempt.

WTC5 was a 9-story low-rise office building in the southeast corner of the site, in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It was damaged beyond repair as a result of the 9/11 attacks and was later demolished. (1)

(# employees, # victims). Courier is inside trader.

Both Lower Manhattan Council and Credit Suisse have one victim during 9/11. Also Credit Suisse (2) has 850 employees on just three floors which is probably a bit crowded, because that's almost 300 per floor.

Credit Suisse First Boston is a bulge bracket New York City based investment banking and financial services firm. It is a division of the Credit Suisse group and has started operating under the Credit Suisse name since 16 January 2006. (3)

Credit Suisse occupied the 7th-9th floors in WTC5 with 850 employees. On the morning of 9/11, the managing director Steven Glick was in a meeting on the 106th floor in WTC1 at Cantor Fitzgerald. (4)
