Reply #17: Copying links from posts.

When you copy links from posts, you need to be sure to right-click and select Copy Shortcut to paste it into your post. DU's software automatically limits the length of the text shown for a link to prevent possible display problems when they are too long. When there is a link with three periods at the end of it, that means there is more text to the link but you just can't see it.

Here is an example using one of the google video links you posted before. First is the actual link, then the text of the link you copied, followed by what you posted.

See how the last one has three periods that are not a part of the link. (i.e. they aren't underlined and do not change color when you move your mouse over the link.)

Compare that to the second link above which has the same three periods that are a part of the link. If you copy and paste just the text of that link into your post, it will not have the additional information represented by the ... portion of the working link.

It's a good idea to preview your posts in order to make sure that the links are functioning before hitting the 'Post message' button.
