Japanese ancestry. Accordingly, it's possible that there were Germans of similar heritage. So, a corpse with overtly Japanese physical characteristics, dressed in Japanese military garb, retrieved from the wreckage of a Japanese aircraft, would not incontrovertibly be Japanese. It could in fact be German. Or Italian. Or even Brazilian...
