"sent..down to.. holding area". Lotta good that did. Even the pilots were wondering WTF? Wasn't it NEAD that dispatched the flights, not ATC?

It was the military which was in control. And it was solely the military's fault for lack of 'any' intercept. Really, it could have been one general making all the decisions that day. Just one person who directed the failure.

When we say failure, we also mean 'confusion'. That confusion stems from the NORAD exercises. The ATC guys were quoted as asking: "Is this real or exercise?"

How convenient.

Seems to me, no matter how "fairly sure" you are about any of this, you just don't want to know everything. Which, apparently, is the difference betwixt us?
But maybe, deep down, you are curious and that's why you are posting here?
