If the intention had been to commit genocide there are a whole lot of more efficient ways of going about it. In case you hadn't noticed, the U.S. does possess a shitload of nuclear weapons.

I think the intention and motives of the Bush administration are crystal clear. For Bush it was partly psychological. He wanted to outdo his daddy and he wanted to be a "war president". For the rest of the gang of crooks, greed suffices although I think some truly believed in Pax Americana and that the troops would be universally greeted as liberators. Couple it all with the usual Bush administration incompetence and the results in Iraq are perfectly explained.

Hope, as I and others have plainly stated, calling it less than genocide does not in any way diminish the atrocity. However, calling it that does diminish the memory of those who have truly been subject to genocide. You're welcome to call it what you want and wallow in outrage when others disagree with you but that makes it no less wrong.
