Aren't there details in there that would be hard for him to have gotten totally wrong? He describes Belger telling him about a plane coming down the Potomac, in a lot of detail. Did he imagine all of this? Did he fabricate it? Or do you accept it as more or less factual but have some other explanation for it not being flight 77?
