30. Re: the dungeon
"I'm surprised this thread has not been moved to the Israel/Palestine dungeon. Oh, wait... it's pledge drive."

Thanks for some much-needed comic relief. Still, you're making a poignant and valid inference to the very pervasive drive to protect Israel's reputation, seen here not only by unwritten rules imposed by the mods, but by the often distraction-oriented arguments of writers who'd see it all so differently if not for ... eligiblity for eventual immigration to the country they want so omenously fortified - no matter WHAT - and even if it's not all too good for America to be going along with this way of doing things ... for over 40 years now (and fairly directly following events like the sinking of the USS Liberty and that failed RFK presidential bid).

We're expected to suppose that our trust in these successive Israel-loyalist administrations will prove worthwhile someday, in terms of genuine peace and stability actually being achieved. It is always presented to us by them as being the Palestinians' fault that this has not gone 'according to plan'. Unfortunately, these ambitious power brokers have recently chosen ... unnecessary war of invasion as the apparent best available vehicle to repair the the order of things they don't care for in this new millenium, and of course it doesn't just not work in that extremely deadly regard, but destroys thousands of lives and costs trillions.

We are there for Israel, and yet it's not as if that's because it's in any way beneficial to Americans not connected to Israel. We are supposed to be good sports and take it as ... a given that this is like a duty we share for civilized values. It's not.

Our dissapointment when this happy, stable and prosperous Middle East never emerges is also ... expected to be attibutable to our own ignorance (regarding said trust) someday sooner.

Where are the concessions ever offered from the side we invariably back like total whores?

This is getting ugly again. People need to be able to comment freely, I would agree.
