"most of us on this side of the Pond don't care much - or really, at all - what subjects of The Crown think"
It's so sad that -- despite the best efforts of several people to teach you and your numerous ilk such simple lessons as they are (in both history and manners) -- you are still so mired in that 18th century.
I'm sure it's fascinating that you don't care what "subjects of The Crown" think. Is there some reason you're telling us this here and now?
Oh well, I guess you're just a better man than I am, Gunga Din, since (I assume) you know what you're talking about, and I don't have a clue.
Hmm. Kipling. The guy whose work a certain imperialist G.W.Bush and all his, er, constituents might have been well-advised to read before girding up and sallying off into a certain mountainous and notoriously ungovernable distant region of the earth?
The Man Who Would Be King indeed, eh?
HAHAHAHAHA!
