36. Not necessarily....I used to routinely shoot dogs and cats...
with a "non-lethal firearm" to keep them off of my property. Well, OK, it wasn't really a "non-lethal firearm", it was a splat-master paint gun, which isn't a firearm since it uses CO2, but hey, the effect was the same. It caused no permanent damage to the critters, but got it across to them that coming into my yard to terrorize and kill the other (wanted) critters, dig in my yard, and spray on my porch was unacceptable. And, to my way of looking at things, it was a lot more humane than using a hav-a-hart on them, then turning them into the local animal control folks, and having them euthanized.

I don't do this any more, because the critters ain't stupid....they know if they come on my property, they're gonna get hit with the nasty red (non-toxic, water-soluble, edible) paint, so they stay away.

Oh, and BTW, I talked with the neighbors about keeping their #$@%$@%$@ critters out of my yard. THAT'S WHAT A LEASH IS FOR!!!! I gave them ample opportunity before I started painting their critters.
