The category of "assault weapons" was created to make people fearful of their neighbors owning "military" armament.
A lot of hunting rifles are more powerful than military rifles.
The adjustable stock is available on a lot of rifles used in competitive shooting.
It is interesting to me to see many Democrats support guns. I wonder what the true split is of supporters to non. Maybe it's just because the anti-gunners don't get involved in these discussions.
My father taught me to shoot when I was 7 or 8 and he was raised as a Quaker.
The founding fathers included gun ownership in the constitution because of the thought that governments get out of control and try to suppress the people.
The Jews found out that being pacifist and not knowing how to use a gun made it difficult to resist their oppressors in WWII.
Very seldom do the police ever show up during the perpetration of a crime. They usually show up after and unless there is a murder, they take a report and figure your lucky to still be alive.
I got into politics because of gun issues. I wrote to Biden and told him I would vote him out of office if he didn't stop messing with the gun issues (look at him now) but it did hurt the Dems back in 1994. Today I vote because of all the other issues with corruption and Congress being bought and the redistribution of wealth to the upper class but I do get a twinge when I see the rights of law-abiding citizens being trampled.
These are just some additional thoughts that anti-gunners don't have the time to read about because they aren't interested but if they understood all the reasons why gun ownership is important they would be a little more tolerant.
How many people know which of their neighbors own guns? That's how much law abiding citizens value gun ownership... they don't throw it in your face they just quietly go about living and letting others live their lives.
