{excerpt}

Police say he threw a landscaping rock into the glass of a side door. The officer’s three children were home at the time of the break-in. A 17-year-old was armed with a shot gun when the burglar entered the house.

Sources say when Doyle was arrested he told officers he was addicted to Opana, a prescription painkiller. That is the new drug of choice on the streets.

Didn't the children have a "duty to retreat"?

Why wasn't that cop's shotgun secured where the 17-year-old child couldn't get to it?
