109. Holy mackerel, it's like something out of El Mariachi
For those who haven't seen the film El Mariachi (the precursor to the far more slick and much less compelling Desperado), at the start of the movie, a drug dealer nicknamed Azul is sitting out a sentence in a local jail, but he's continuing to do business via satellite phone from his cell, he's got his bodyguards in the next cell, they're all heavily armed and the cells aren't actually locked. Essentially, Azul's just going through the motions of serving his sentence so that, rather than become a fugitive indefinitely, he can satisfy the criminal justice system and be done at some point. And when he wants to, he just walks out, handing the guards a wad of cash on his way out.

"Unfortunately, in these executions, these delinquents also cowardly murdered innocent civilians," <Interior Ministry spokesman Ricardo Najera> said, adding that the inmates returned to the prison after the attack.

Emphasis mine. Is there a better alibi than "I was in prison at the time"?
