PRECISELY. And he would no doubt advocate exactly the same situation today, for exactly the same reasons.

Old Ben lived during a time before the Union had been tested by the American Civil War.

You keep holding up the American Civil War as if it means something. Does one failed rebellion mean that all future rebellions are futile?
