...you are capable of seeing the irrationality of those other groups, yet fall so far off the wagon when it comes to this particular subject that you still are under the impression that you're on the "rational" side of the particular debate because you're on the "rational" side of those other debates.

I also combat the anti-vaccination and climate change deniers on a semi-regular basis. And I used to think very similarly about firearms as you so (without the ever present arrogance, however). But that was simply because I never looked closely at the issue at hand and just took org's like the Brady Campaign at their word. When I did decide to look at the issue rationally, I did what any rational person would do; I let the evidence guide me to the conclusions.

So I'm sorry, depakid, but I'm not impressed with your society. You've taking irrational fear of firearms and those who own them to an unhealthy level, all the while claiming those on the other side of the issue are the ones that suffer with irrational fear. How much fear can a person really have of the outside world if they trust their neighbor enough to be armed? The "fear" argument that you love to use simply isn't rational.

This is not to say I think your society is "bad." But I think you are all going down the wrong road when it comes to the issue of violence, and the sort of distrust that you seem to harbor for your neighbors cannot be a healthy thing.
