18. A bullshit ruling that the laughtenburg amendment was allowed to survive so long without being
turned over.

A misdemeanor is not a felony. No one should ever lose rights over a misdemeanor.

If you feel so strongly about the subject, lobby your state to make domestic violence convictions automatic felonies, no pleading to a lesser count.

My personal thoughts on the matter are that it automatically profiles people. A black man, on average, is far more likely to kill someone on average that a white man. So by the logic of the laughtenburg amendment, it would be perfectly OK to strip a black man's rights based on any misdemeanor involving any type of violence.

Truth be told, from what I can tell by reading, most domestic violence disputes are generally one off affairs, quite often involving both parties, not the ones where Bubba Sixpack comes home and gives his old lady a regular beating. The Bubba Sixpack ones are the minority. That type of domestic violence situation does need to be handled, but not with oversimplistic POS legislation that simplifies the problem at the cost of civil rights.
