I have a problem with a public list of gun owners. Such a list could target gun owners for theft and allow their weapons to reach the black market.
... who is proposing such a thing? I've never heard of anywhere that practises this, or any serious proposal that it be practised in the US.
It might be valuable to require anyone who owns or wants to purchase a firearm to complete a class that includes safety training, knowledge of local and federal firearms laws and some hands on training with a firearm. Of course a background check would be a requirement. What I'm suggesting is similar to the requirements for a concealed carry permit.
Yup. That's how a licensing system works!
