53. A new JFK for the White House?
Appearance: Tall, with steely features and cold demeanour
Newsworthiness: One of the front runners to become the Democratic candidate who will challenge US President George W Bush for control of the White House in the US elections next year
A1962 photograph of John Forbes Kerry and John Fitzgerald Kennedy sailing off Rhode Island illustrated a recent article about Kerry in the Boston Globe.

The charismatic, youthful president and young presidential hopeful captured in the same shot; it's a powerful image and one that is sure to be reproduced over the next 16 months by Kerry's supporters as the Massachusetts senator tries to win

the Democratic presidential nomination.

If he secures the nomination, Kerry will then try to emulate his idol, JFK, by beating George W Bush to become the 44th US president in November next year.
