Notes from the Richfield Times article "Getting Ready to Greet the President of the United States"
"unusual for the President's trip to be announced a month in advance"
The chief of police in Richfield was asked to present a list of officials who should be invited to attend. The chief listed the mayor, trustees, council, and fire chief. Secret service informed him that his last was longer than the normal, but approved.
With just over two weeks to go, Repub headquarters in Akron had no advance notice or instructions.
Kucinich's office had not been notified, and had a scheduling conflict. But George Voinovich (who was ostracised for questioning the size of the tax cuts, before caving) "most likely will attend". Hmmm. Governor Bob Taft is planning to attend.

And from the Akron Beacon Journal on Friday:
http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/6652603.htm Noted, the "Non-Bush" people were previously scheduled to be allowed to gather in the adjacent ballpark, but were moved to half a mile away.
