If he was worried about his people, he could have just taken that time slot back.

They all do it for money. As for the people, he'll get a new job and take most of them with him. If he can't, then it's because he can't bring an audience, and his people would be out of work soon, anyway.

I saw a couple of minutes of Jimmy Fallon by accident the other night. That slot should be open again soon.
