48. I wasn't desperate with hunger but rather TRICKED
I was about 15 or 16. My Mom said that her cousin had got a deer and she had made a roast so she wanted me to try it (I hadn't had deer at the time). I was curious so I took a slice of what turned out to be the most gamey and greasy substance ever. It was so terrible that I reflexively spit it out and declared that deer was disgusting at which point she came clean and admitted what she had served up was possum.
I haven't trusted my mother, food, or people in general the same way sense and learned that possum is way beyond foul. I'm thinking a rotten skunk ass would be more appealing.
