Reply #24: they'd let you in, they wouldn't even ask about it (canada is different)

i'm not sure what the issue is w. canada but there was some dispute w. the bush administration and that's what is causing all the problems going to/from canada -- by the way when i entered canada this summer no one asked if i'd ever been arrested etc. -- i was just waved in, so maybe w. obama in charge they'll loosen up on some of this crap -- in any case, how would canada know if you had a dui? i know lots of people who just boldly said they had no dui's and they were allowed into canada w. no problem either -- i was a bit flabbergasted wondering why you would waste time asking people, every time they drove from detroit to windsor, if they'd ever been arrested -- who is going to say YES? canada can't possibly have the criminal records of every man, woman, and child in america...MOST of the folks getting barred from canada are the idiots too stupid to understand the value of the little white lie, sure, if you get caught in a fib to the canadian immigration dudes, they won't let you in -- but if you have an arrest record and you admit it, YOU'RE NOT GETTING IN ANYWAY so it's to your advantage to fib because chances are you'll skate

i've flown into a number of european countries and no one asks anything, you just show your passport to some guy in a booth, he asks if you're a tourist or for business, and if you say tourist, he puts a stamp in it and waves you on

never heard anyone in europe ask if i was guilty of any felonies, all they wanna know is do i have a passport and a credit card
