65. It was fairly easy for me to give up --
I had grown to be grossed out by "meat" being animals, so the final step wasn't too big a leap for me. I do use a lot of meat substitutes -- burgers, deli meats, taco stuffing, sloppy joes, sausage, hot dogs, buffalo wings -- so I tend to feel like I an not missing out on "meat" things I liked to eat. Whenever I get a hankering for something from the old days -- right now, it is Kentucky Fried Chicken coating -- I work at making/finding a good substitute.

I think the thing to do is not fall into the '70s vegetarian trap of everything being bland and unexciting (The Good Earth -- bleck that shit was nasty. :scared: ). There are so many wonderful cuisines out there that are full of dishes that are veggie or can easily be made veggie -- food full of flavor and color and life. My big new thing is exploring cous cous or quinoa salads -- very flavorful and great for light, summertime fare.

If you don't want to cold turkey it, a nice way to a balance things in the bigging is veggie at home, meat out at restaurants. I do that now as I try to go vegan.

Good luck -- the planet and the critters will thank you!

And visit the veggie forum here to hang with other veggies and get good ideas for food options. :hi:
