| 13. Peart ruined more potential drummers than anyone... |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-06-09 08:20 PM by gmoney
so many guys (and only guys, I'd wager) saw that giant overcompensation of a drum kit and felt THEY couldn't play drums without having nineteen rototoms, two bass drums and four gongs -- and having to play everyone one of them simultaneously -- that they never bothered to learn to keep the fucking beat and a consistent tempo! I played with one of these guys, and it was just horrifying. Give me Pete Thomas, longtime Elvis Costello drummer... very basic kit, but wonderful the things he could do with it. For instance... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykgYNeQesmU Helps to have a kickass bass player doing a great riff... Or try this on for size... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOayR5ri2xM
