I don't know if this father feels much of it, either.
You speak of the possibility of being 'ripped to shreds'... with guilt and repentance, one would assume... but if you felt that way about your brother, your post sure doesn't reflect it. I humbly suggest that you read your post carefully, and think about how it comes across.
Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, but you can't demand it.
