A hero...

On those rare occasions when my dad was home on Saturday mornings when I was a kid, we'd skip the cartoons, and search the uhf channels for his old favorite shows. We'd watch Andy Griffith, Bonanza, Zorro, The Lone Ranger; and every once in a while, we'd catch Kung Fu. I saw a man who was constantly traveling, and searching for peace. Even at that early age, I could see myself in that wanderer. Time went by, and through the travels of my life, I still saw myself in that wanderer searching for peace and a home, and never quite finding it; but at the same time I realized that that in my travels I could help others. Now, almost thirty years later, the man that played that hero has died; but heroes never die. As long as they live on in the hearts of those that they inspired, and their legends are passed on to future generations; then they will live on. Goodbye, David Carradine, from a man who has grown up still learning lessons that you've passed on as you played my childhood hero. I hope I can honor that memory by passing those lessons on to others.
