2. And cats can take a very long time to get used to people,
event the ones they live with all the time. One of my two cats is pretty skittish and it took about three years before she'd sort of sit on my lap. She's actually very affectionate in her own way. But when strangers come into the house, she disappears. The other one assumes that everyone is there to feed her, and she's never seen a lap she didn't think wasn't intended for her to sit on.
