If I'm talking to my mom about a particular person, and that person is AA, I absolutely refuse to note that s/he is AA. So I'll end up saying, "Oh, I can't remember her name. You know the one--she was wearing the blue shirt....YOU know--she was talking about politics....No? Come ON, I know you know who I'm talking about--she's really tall?" Etc. Invariably (because my mother is from a very different older generation) she'll exclaim, "OH! You mean the BLACK ONE!" :eyes:
