7. But wouldn't you say a certain amount of "faith"
is necessary when one's career is based around forcing people to be treated for chemical imbalances that have never been scientifically proven? Faith, firstly, that every single patient really does have said illness, and is not simply reacting to trauma? And faith, secondly, that these variations of the human mind are always curses to be eliminated and never dangerous gifts to be respected? And finally, of course, there is the blind faith in the belief that you always know better than the person being treated what is best for them, faith that prevails to such a point that it overrides any and all respect for human autonomy. Before you attack her, ask yourself: have your own actions really been a stellar example of how one behaves in an enlightened and humane culture?
