Watching someone die and knowing it is just a matter of time is a horrific experience regardless of the fact that in the end their is some gratitude that the person's suffering ends. Grief is about the survivors and they are the ones who need the hugs and vibes along with his stepfather.

Hope that he is peaceful and passes in his sleep
