There are harmless spiders you can let spin webs in places that aren't used by you. They like the dark too like the roaches. They are good at catching pesky flying insects too. Even when I have to evict a spider from my house, I relocate it somewhere that it can set up houskeeping. I never kill them, even the black widows. I just relocate them further away from my common areas to do their job.
